Carry your own familiar Linux desktop, files, settings, and everyday applications on a drive you can take with you.

Connect the drive to a compatible PC, choose it from the computer's temporary boot menu, and start a complete Linux Mint workspace without replacing the operating system already installed on that computer. Unlike a basic installer or “live” USB, your files, updates, settings, and installed applications remain on the drive between uses.

Prepared, tested, and backed by a real person.

Every drive includes a 15-minute phone or text setup review with Mike. We can confirm how to open your computer's boot menu, explain the first startup, and help you choose a sensible next step. One-hour and two-hour guided setup options are also available.

What you can do with it

  • Use a familiar desktop, browser, office suite, and file manager on compatible PCs
  • Keep documents and settings on your own removable drive
  • Work without installing Linux over the computer's existing operating system
  • Carry a separate workspace for travel, temporary computers, testing, or learning Linux
  • Open and copy files from many Windows and Linux drives when permissions and encryption allow
  • Install additional Linux applications as your needs change

Choose your drive size

64 GB — $149
Compact USB 3 flash drive for basic browsing, documents, learning, and light temporary use.
128 GB — $169
More room for applications and personal files while keeping the smallest form factor.
256 GB — $199
Portable external SSD. A better choice for regular use and a larger working file collection.
512 GB — $249
Portable external SSD with comfortable space for everyday work and media.
1 TB — $329
Recommended for frequent use, large project folders, photos, and a growing software library.
2 TB — $449
Maximum capacity for large local collections and customers who want one primary portable workspace.

The 64 GB and 128 GB versions use new premium USB 3 flash storage. The 256 GB through 2 TB versions use a new portable external SSD for better sustained performance. Hardware brand and enclosure appearance may vary based on availability. Listed capacities are manufacturer ratings; formatted usable capacity is lower.

What is included

  • A new drive with a complete Linux Mint desktop installed and tested
  • Support for both USB-A and USB-C connections through the included connector, cable, or adapter

Choose the amount of help you want

15-minute setup review — included
Best for confirming compatibility, finding the boot menu, and completing the first startup.
1 hour of guided setup — add $125
We can walk through first-use setup, updates, Wi-Fi, printers, applications, file access, or basic personalization.
2 hours of guided or remote setup — add $250
Best for a more complete setup, file organization, application installation, synchronization, or encryption guidance.

Support is scheduled and is not an immediate-response service. Remote access depends on the computer, network, and working desktop. When remote access is unavailable, support continues by phone or text.

How it works

  1. Choose capacity and support. Select the drive size that matches how much you expect to store and how often you plan to use it.
  2. Tell us about the computer. After ordering, send the manufacturer and model so obvious compatibility concerns can be checked before preparation.
  3. Your drive is prepared and tested. Linux Mint, updates, core applications, instructions, and connection hardware are added before shipment.
  4. Boot from the drive. Use the computer's temporary boot menu and select the portable workspace. The internal operating system remains in place.
  5. Use your included support. We help with startup and the first steps covered by your selected support level.
Important: This is a portable computer workspace, not a backup by itself. Keep a separate copy of files you cannot replace. Disconnect the drive only after shutting down or safely unmounting it. Full-drive encryption can be configured during guided setup, but a lost encryption password may make the data permanently inaccessible.

Compatibility and performance

  • Designed primarily for x86-64 desktop and laptop PCs that support booting from USB
  • Not intended for Apple Silicon Macs, phones, tablets, most ARM-only computers, or Chromebooks with locked boot settings
  • The computer may require a temporary boot-menu selection or firmware setting change; compatibility varies by model
  • Wi-Fi, graphics, touchscreens, fingerprint readers, docking stations, and other hardware may require additional drivers or may not work on every computer
  • Performance depends on drive type, USB port speed, computer hardware, and workload; an external SSD is recommended for frequent use
  • Moving between very different computers can require driver updates or adjustments
  • No Windows license, Windows installation, cellular service, cloud-storage subscription, or computer hardware is included
