Questions & Support

Questions & support

Clear answers before you commit.

Learn what is included, how private servers differ from ordinary computers, what support covers, and what to expect during installation.

Getting started

Choosing the right next step

Do I need to know which service or server package I need?
No. Tell us what is not working, what you want to improve, and roughly how many people use the system. We can help determine whether the right next step is a repair, upgrade, network project, NAS, complete private server, or something simpler.
Do I have to buy something before asking questions?
No. For custom work—and whenever you are uncertain—a consultation should come first. A direct purchase makes sense only when the package and scope are already clear.
Can you work with the computers and equipment I already own?
Often, yes. We assess age, condition, capacity, compatibility, and security. If existing hardware is suitable, we can recommend reusing it rather than replacing it.
Do you serve homes or only businesses?
The site is focused on small-business technology. Some services may also fit home offices or professional studios; contact us with the situation and location.
Private servers & software

What you are actually buying

What is included with a complete private server?
The listed hardware, assembly, testing, a compatible operating system, and installation of your requested compatible software before shipping. Final remote or on-site setup, migration, training, maintenance and technical support are paid add-ons. A consultation is recommended, but you may buy a server for self-setup.
Is the server hardware new?
Each product listing identifies what is included. If substitutions or special-order components are needed, those details are confirmed before fulfillment.
Can you install Nextcloud, Immich, or another private app?
Yes. Private app installation starts at $350 per application when the environment is ready and the scope is standard. Migration, advanced integration, unusual storage needs, or remediation may add cost.
What software can run on a private server?
Common options include file sharing and collaboration, photo management, document archiving, media libraries, password management, backups, workflow automation with n8n, and selected business tools. Compatibility and ongoing maintenance requirements vary by application.
Will a private server eliminate all of my cloud subscriptions?
Usually not all of them. Some subscriptions can be replaced or reduced; others remain the best option because of compliance, integrations, mobile workflows, or vendor support. We compare practical tradeoffs rather than promising a zero-subscription business.
Can you move my existing files and photos?
Yes, migration can be scoped separately. Cost depends on the amount of data, its current location, organization, permissions, connection speed, and the condition of the source devices.
Installation, Wi-Fi & office work

Working at your location

Where do you install equipment?
On-site service is available in the Asheville area. We confirm the address, travel, workspace access, power, network connections, and any cabling needs before scheduling.
Can you improve office Wi-Fi without replacing everything?
Often. We first look for coverage gaps, interference, poor access-point placement, aging equipment, overloaded connections, and configuration problems. The recommendation may be a tune-up, partial upgrade, or full redesign depending on the findings.
Will the internet or office be down during installation?
Some projects require a maintenance window. We identify expected downtime during scoping and, when practical, stage and test equipment in advance to reduce disruption.
Do you provide cabling or coordinate with other contractors?
Basic patching and equipment connections may be included in a network project. New in-wall cabling, electrical work, construction, or specialized mounting may require a qualified contractor; we will identify that early.
Warranty, backups & support

What happens after launch

What does the hardware warranty cover?
Warranty terms depend on the product and components listed in your agreement. Hardware warranty coverage does not include accidental damage, unsupported changes, internet outages, third-party services, or data recovery unless explicitly stated.
Is my data covered by the hardware warranty?
No. Hardware can be repaired or replaced; lost data may not be recoverable. A tested backup strategy is essential, and we can help design one with local and off-site copies where appropriate.
How long is support included?
Server package prices do not include ongoing technical support. Remote setup, maintenance, monitoring and help are optional services with their scope, hours and price agreed separately. Hardware and workmanship warranty claims remain covered by the warranty terms.
Can you support equipment after another company installed it?
Usually, after an assessment. We may need administrator access, documentation, backups, and time to understand the existing configuration before making changes.
What should I do before a repair or migration?
Tell us about important files, known problems, encryption, business-critical software, existing backups, and whether you have administrator access or any locked accounts. Please do not send passwords. Do not assume data is backed up simply because it appears in a synced folder.
Do you offer emergency or after-hours support?
Availability depends on the situation and the support arrangement. Contact us with the impact and urgency; emergency or after-hours rates may apply when service is available.

Still have a question?

Describe the situation in your own words.

You do not need technical terminology. Include your location, team size, the equipment involved, and what you would like to improve.
